Beth,

Do we also pray for the “terrorist” who are trying to protect “their” country and “their” way of life like the U.S troops? Curious on how we ought to pray for them.

“We” means the congregation as U.S. citizens, you silly!

Of course the church doesn’t have an army!

The church doesn’t have a mayor or a courthouse or roads, either. As a church, we are a part of the body of Christ. As citizens, we’re part of the United States of America.

And it doesn’t even matter whether you think we should be at war or not. It doesn’t. You can still pray in support of the ones who are sacrificing to serve this county. They give up a lot and so do their families.

Excellent post … good summary. His new book is sure to be very controversial and will likely resurrect a myriad of recycled arguments in predictable polemical fashion.
